Greenlight Building created a modern environmentally-conscious residential home in the heart of Canberra. The eco-house features two native green roofs, shady trees and unique architectural design. The house was built with passive house principles.

RECLAIMED MATERIALS

  • The front door is made from reclaimed blackbutt timber, which was sourced from an old pagola in Wollongong.
  • The central corridor is a recycled fence paling feature wall, which spans the length of the house.
  • The floorboards throughout the house were sourced from the demolition of a previous job and a school renovation.
  • The house features a 100-year-old ironbark timber, which was sourced from stables in Campbelltown and purchased in South Durras.

BESPOKE ELEMENTS

The open plan kitchen and living area is a central part of this home. It features luxury Gaggenau appliances, stainless steel benchtops and a canopy rangehood. The centrepiece is a hand-built cement bench top with reclaimed fence paling cladding with inbuilt heating. The smoky glass splash back adds further space to the area and reflects the variety of textures in the room.
